Dear Dr. Murray,

Last month I learnt that you were re-elected President and thus are starting another four years in your function. Your re-election made me very happy as I believe that your policies support human rights and the development of sign language.

I know that in the long term, your organisation adheres to the principles of the UN and the WHO. I believe that a minority group of people communicating in sign language deserves more attention and support and the politicians need to give more attention to sign language users.

However, in the EU countries the influence of inclusion in schools is considerably higher than in other parts of the world.

The community of the deaf and the hard of hearing should be proud of their sign language and the sign languages should be part of every culture, every society.

On the other continents the situation is totally different, with higher numbers of the physically challenged, especially the deaf and the blind. For example in Egypt (specifically in Cairo) lives about thousand people communicating in sign language, and their numbers towards Asia are growing. On these continents are no tools like in the EU, that would support the development of a communication channel for these people.

I remember that we talked together before the planned Forum of the disabled, that was supposed to be held in Brno, Czech Republic, under the auspices of the Czech Development Agency. Unfortunately the meeting did not happen. I would like us to cooperate in the future and sign a memorandum of cooperation.

Please allow me to wish you many successes in your new term.

Yours sincerely,

Roman Lupomesky
