On 18 May 2026, the final conference of the project “Sign Language as a Bridge” took place. The conference brought together seven panelists, including two representatives of politics and the federal administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as representatives of the embassies of the Czech Republic and Hungary. The remaining panelists were experts who opened a deeper discussion on the Deaf community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, particularly regarding the lack of interpreting services and linguistic development of sign language.
Thanks to the experience gained during six missions, our experts presented concrete findings and examples of good practice that may contribute to the further development of support for the Deaf community in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The conference also presented the results of seven months of development cooperation carried out through the project “Deaf Hope” and highlighted the importance of sign language as a bridge between communities and cultures.
