16 May 2026 – We did not expect more than 10 participants. The whole day consisted of workshops with teams from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary. Discussions focused on how to establish an association and a union for Deaf people in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as how to improve the personnel structure within these organizations. The main reason is the need to advocate for sign language legislation. In the Sarajevo Canton, a sign language law was approved back in 2009, but social policy has still not functioned effectively enough to ensure clear provision of services, such as free interpreting services for Deaf people.

Further discussions were held about interpreting, the interpreting profession itself, and the needs of Deaf clients. A large part of the discussions was devoted to these topics.
